Love is a Journey of Trust
This week we’ve been looking at our decisions and asking ourselves which government am I making this decision from? The government of love or fear. When we look at the story of Abram, we see he slipped out of the government of love where he was trusting Yahweh to lead him and his family to an unknown place right into the government of fear when the place didn’t look like he thought it should.
Abram took the easy way out when he left the wilderness to go to a place already established. How many of us run from the wilderness? We run from the hard places Abba is inviting us to. We circumvent faith when we refuse to surrender and trust in what He wants to build in us. The wilderness is an invitation to intimacy with Jesus. When we run from the wilderness we sacrifice closeness.
Abram sacrificed intimacy with his bride when he went to Egypt because he was afraid. In Genesis 12:13 he told Sarai, “Just tell them you are my sister so that they will treat me well for your sake and spare my life.” He’s making a transaction out of fear. When we are not operating under the government of love every decision is transactional. How many people are only making transactions on Sunday and forfeiting intimacy out of fear. Why would we settle for anything less than true love?
Truth, we have all made poor decisions even when we are walking intimately with the Lord. Pastor Tim shared this truth: in every moment of our lives the right decision and the wrong decision are in the same space. They exist at the same time, every time. Which one we choose determines which government we are making the decision from.
We do not have to live with regret, shame, or condemnation because we made a poor decision. All we have to do is yield to His love. Bring those decisions to Abba and surrender them to His love. He’s inviting us to live and remain under His government of love. Anytime we step out of His covering of love into a decision from fear just return and ask Him, “why did I respond that way?” He will help you grow in your trust with Him.
