The Warmth of His Love
Faith over fear is a phrase widely used in the Christian community. It is intended to encourage us to walk in faith, meaning to put our trust in Yahweh in every situation, especially in times of fearful moments. But if you do not understand where faith comes from this could actually be the opposite of encouragement. Let me explain.
When you face fear and feel you don’t have enough faith to deal with it, you get discouraged and disappointed in yourself. The phrase “faith over fear” makes it seem like it’s your fault if your faith isn’t strong enough. How do we get faith? Where does it come from?
Galatians 5:6 states faith works by love. So actually, only love deals with fear. What happens when you have not experienced the love required to increase faith? If you focus on building faith without knowing the true love of Abba, you’ll feel disappointment every time.
Our hearts desire has to be the pursuit of understanding His love. Pastor Tim made a statement Sunday, “every time I get more understanding of His love my faith grows in Him.” Our faith has to be in the love of Abba. He then deals with everything that would show up as fear.
This week our focus will be on the “isness” of God. We will look at scriptures that tell us who God is. We are building a foundation here at TWP for many generations to be able to build their lives on for the glory of God and to see the Kingdoms of this world become the Kingdom of our God. One of our foundational scriptures is 1 John 1:5
“This is the life-giving message we heard him share and it’s still ringing in our ears. We now repeat his words to you: God is pure light. You will never find even a trace of darkness in him.”
God IS pure light! Light represents all things good and holy. It illuminates and reveals. He is the source of all truth and knowledge. When we choose to walk in His pure light we can have unbroken fellowship with Him. This fellowship involves being open, transparent and honest allowing Him to reveal those areas His love has not yet had it works. He’s coming after every trace of darkness that still responds to fear. As we understand He is pure light and walk in this understanding our faith is made strong.
Will you open your heart to His light today and allow His love to pour in. Have you ever stood in the brightness of the sun and closed your eyes to feel the warmth of it? Imagine you are standing in the warmth of the sun today and feel His love covering you.
